If you follow me, then you know its no secret I have a serious crush on Garmentory. A few years ago when they came on the scene I was elated as I knew this was a game-changer for both shopowners and indie consumers.
Garmentory is a an e-commerce platform for shops, boutique and designers who imbodie slow-fashion values and thoughtful design practices. You can can find all your favotie desginers from the comfort of your couch. That liana kohn jumper you’ve been lusting after can finally be yours with the click of a botton.. Your shopping experience can be quilt free as you’re still supporting Slow fashion.
When I started Aura Wear I made it a point to exam my values and build them into my practice. After working so many soul sucking jobs throughout the years, I knew intention is the real key to longevity.
After watching Garmentory expand and grow, I Knew I had to meet these girls…. Their passion for design and ethical fashion oozes out of every post.. One day I decided to reach out over instgram to the Co-founder Adele Tetangco. We slowly start chatting more and more over the span of a month and knew it was time to meet in person.
Adele flew in for men’s market, met me for dinner at Momofuku’s Noodle Bar and the rest is history! I Couldn’t believe how incredibly kind, vibrate and thoughtful she was. Adele has the ability to see things most of us can’t even fantisize for ourselves. She sees the ends and outs, and she knows exactly what your next move needs to be, and on top of that, she sees the good in others and strives to help them see it too.
Adele practially has a degree in networking. It’s like she was born with a special social gene. She has built an entire community through her connections that is woven and intertwined with, collabrations, friendships and launches.
Since meeting Adele, not only has my business taken off, I have gained some of the most wonderful and incredible friends I could ask for… Including Her. It’s hard to find friends in the fashion industry that recognize your values and see your work without the cliché industry backlash thrust apon us by the media.
These women are breaking boundaries, questioning practices and turning the industry on its head, and I believe this is only the beginning.
Last week I had the pleasure of traveling to Philladelphia with Adele and her team and got to see first hand why this work is so important to her. We met with shop owners, cruised their collections and got to hear about thier missions.
With big online stores and mom and pop buisess being run out left and right… Adele is impowering a new generation to branch out, expand on what is possible for thier businesses, While helping keeping thier lights on when foot traffic is non-existant.
It’s no secret the concept of brick and mortar is changing….People are not shopping like they use too and more and more stores are closing across the country. Adele saw this problem and took something that in fact was scary for store owners and gave them a chance to surive by selling online and reaching thier audience in a whole new way.… Not only has this revived so many shops across the country, it has started a store-front revolution…….
Since shops are selling online more and more these days it gives them the opputinity to expand on what is possible…. From Aura Reading events, to Ceremonal Tea sessions. Owners are branching out and changing what is possible for their retail space… It’s incredible what a butterfly effect it’s had the industry.
It just takes one small idea to ignite a fire. This isn’t the Last we will hear from Adele. its just the begining.
